Kogi Govt’s Plan to Organise Parallel SDP Gov’ship Primaries a Criminal Trespass – Atimah

The Kogi State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) says its attention has been drawn to a plan by some sponsored persons claiming to be members of the party to organise a parallel governorship primaries in the state today.

The SDP, in a statement signed by Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, State Party Chairman, alleged that the parallel governorship primaries is sponsored by the Kogi State government.

Atimah described the plot as illegal and a criminal trespass.

The SDP State Chairman noted that any person or persons dealing with the parallel and acclaimed SDP members to conduct any governorship primaries are not known to the National Leadership of the party under the chairmanship of Prof. Tunde Adediran.

The SDP Chairman called on the “members of the public to be in the picture of the sinister motives by mischief makers claiming to be members of SDP but allegedly sponsored by the powers that be to create confusion in the ranks of our party, that their plans has been uncovered and known.

“We equally call on the Independent National Electoral Commission who were in attendance at the governorship primaries of our party held on the 29th August, 2019 not to be dragged into the planned confusion masterminded to cause disaffection.

“We in the SDP are resolute and insists that as a party we are focused on winning the forthcoming November governorship election, assured that no distraction by some faceless persons would dampen our resolve,” he said.

The SDP, on the 29th August, 2019 elected Barr. Natasha Akpoti as its candidate in a well monitored governorship primaries.

Atimah stated that Natasha’s candidature is non negotiable having been affirmed by the delegates of the SDP.
