The Omachi Ata’Igala-Ika (Waali), Dr. P. H. Akpa, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, describing the former governor’s passing as a profound loss to his family, Kogi State and Nigeria.
Dr. Akpa, who is also the Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), in a condolence message, commiserated with the family of the deceased, his relatives, friends, political associates and the people of Kogi State over the death of the former governor.
He described the late Ibrahim Idris as a distinguished statesman whose years in public service constituted a significant chapter in the political history and development of Kogi State.
According to him, the former governor’s contributions to the state and the country would remain part of the broader history of public service in Nigeria.
“It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, friends, associates, and the good people of Kogi State on the passing of His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Executive Governor of Kogi State,” Dr. Akpa said.
The Omachi Ata’Igala-Ika noted that the death of the former governor had created a significant vacuum for his family and those who knew and worked with him, stressing that his passing would be deeply felt across Kogi State.
“The late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was a distinguished statesman whose years of service to Kogi State and Nigeria formed an important chapter in the history of our dear State. His departure is indeed a great loss to his family, Kogi State and the nation,” he stated.
Dr. Akpa urged the bereaved family to take solace in the legacies of the deceased and the memories of his years of service to the state and the nation.
He also called for prayers for the repose of the former governor’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him eternal rest.
“At this difficult moment, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus,” he said.
The traditional title holder further prayed for divine strength, comfort and fortitude for the immediate family and all those mourning the former governor.
“May Allah grant the immediate family and all who mourn him the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Dr. Akpa said.
He concluded the condolence message with a prayer for the peaceful repose of the former governor’s soul.
“May the soul of His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, rest in perfect peace,” he prayed.
