Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has pledged to leverage her office to translate ideas and recommendations emerging from engagements with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora into tangible development initiatives.
The senator made the commitment following an engagement with members of the Ebira community in Maryland, United States, on September 6, 2026, where she joined community leaders and Nigerians from different backgrounds to discuss the future of Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria.
The gathering was organised under the auspices of the Ebira First Forum and coordinated by Mr Bashir Enesi Abubakar.
She described the meeting as an important platform for dialogue, noting that the participation of Nigerians from communities beyond Ebira demonstrated the shared interest in building a more prosperous and united country.
“While in America, I spent a wonderful evening with members of our Ebira community in Maryland at a gathering of the Ebira First Forum, coordinated by my dear big brother, Mr Bashir Enesi Abubakar,” she said.
The senator disclosed that the gathering also provided an opportunity to acknowledge development interventions facilitated through her office, as Engineer Charles Jagun of Akoko Edo presented a letter of appreciation relating to streetlight projects.
“Nigerians from other communities joined us, including Engr. Charles Jagun of Akoko Edo, who presented a letter of appreciation for the streetlight projects we facilitated,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.
According to her, the discussions went beyond community affairs, touching on leadership, development and the collective aspirations of Nigerians.
“We shared ideas and hopes for Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria, united by our desire for good leadership and a better country,” she said.
Senator Natasha further stressed that meaningful representation should extend beyond legislative debates to include sustained engagement with citizens and the conversion of identified needs into practical interventions.
She said the ideas generated during the Maryland gathering would form part of the broader conversations she intends to sustain with Nigerians at home and abroad.
“It was indeed an enriching evening and I look forward to more conversations as I set forth to using my office in the Senate to help turn the ideas we shared into action,” she said.
The senator also expressed appreciation to members of the Ebira community and other Nigerians who attended the gathering, commending their commitment to the development of their communities and the country.
She reserved special appreciation for her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, whom she credited with providing consistent support and encouragement for her public service.
“I earnestly thank everyone who came, and my beloved husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, for his constant, tireless support and love for my people and I,” she said.
The engagement is part of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s broader interactions with Nigerians beyond the shores of the country, as she continues to emphasise dialogue, community engagement and development-oriented representation.
The senator signed off her message with the phrase “Worldly Kogi Central for Nigeria,” underscoring her stated commitment to linking the interests of Kogi Central with wider national development conversations.
