The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo has described as “shameless and despicable; desperate moves by former PDP Governors in the State ahead of the Federal House of Representatives Bye Election to fill the vacant Kogi / Lokoja Reps Seat”, describing the former Governors as the “foundational problems of the state”.
“It is unacceptable for Alh Ibrahim Idris, a former Governor of the State to do a macabre dance on the grave of the dead when it was obvious that he supervised a perfidious, clueless and corrupt administration that laid a problematic foundation for our dear State.
“A Governor that sat on the era of the oil boom and special allocations but still went on a borrowing spree to mortgage the future of the state and make salary payment a huge task for subsequent administrations.
“Wada’s succeeding Alh. Ibrahim Idris made it even worse. Loans taken were either stolen or diverted to private businesses by the twin corrupt administrations. Alh. Ibrahim Idris has not told Kogites what necessitated the payment of private firms’ staff with the commonwealth of the people. He has not told us how many people benefited from such ludicrous perfidy.
“His Administration and that of his inlaw successor loaded the civil service with fictitious names and promoted corruption in the service. The present administration will be remembered by history to have taken the bull by the horn by clearing the mess in the civil service.
“In the process of sanitizing the system, some people who were found to have been aided by the system to benefit unduly from the coffers of government were removed from the payroll.
“The State Government has continued to pay salaries according to her capacity and ability to pay and will continue to improve as finances improve.
“For Alh Ibrahim Idris to have claimed lack of salary payment killed civil servants is a gross disrespect to the dead and a grave insult to the sensibilities and intelligence of the Kogi people who are still reaping the fruits of the cluelessness of the previous administrations”.
Fanwo said the bye election to fill the vacant Kogi/Lokoja Reps Seat will “clear the doubts of those who are still living in the past”, saying Kogi State has moved away from the “ruins and relics of the failed past”.
“As a peaceful state, we will ensure the peace we have been enjoying in the State is not breached by desperate politicians. We know how the citizens feel about the sight of those who almost killed the state. Please don’t stone them but vote against them.
“APC will prove a point on Saturday: that the failed era of PDP is gone for good in the state. We are set to give them a glimpse of what to expect in the 2019 general elections.
“Kogi is a major stronghold of the All Progressives Congress and that will be announced in style on Saturday when our candidate, Haruna Isah wins with a landslide.
“The failed leaders should continue to give back what they stole from our coffers. On Saturday, the people of Kogi and Lokoja Local Government Areas will make a bold statement that will send a strong signal to the sinking PDP”.
