- Candidate promises to prioritise access to credit and infrastructure, agrees to join proposed manifesto debate
Pastor John Ibiejemite, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Kabba-Bunu I State Constituency seat in the House of Assembly, has pledged to champion legislation and oversight that protect the welfare and growth of the constituency if elected.
Ibiejemite made the commitment during a consultation visit to the leadership and members of Igbimo Atuluse at the group’s headquarters in Kabba. The visit was part of his ongoing community listening tour.
He told members the association is a critical pillar of the local economy and social fabric, and said he would sponsor bills and exercise oversight functions to serve the constituency’s interests.

“I did not come here today just to ask for your votes; I came to build a partnership that will outlast the election,” Ibiejemite said. “Your struggles with access to credit and infrastructure are my priorities. As your representative, my office will be a vehicle for your collective growth.”
Responding on behalf of the association, its president, Segun Modeyin, Esq., thanked the candidate for the visit. He acknowledged Ibiejemite’s record of community service and commended him for consulting directly with grassroots groups.
“We are deeply honored by this visit. It shows that Ibiejemite respects our association and understands our contributions to this constituency,” Modeyin said. “We have heard the vision, and we are confident in his capacity to deliver true representation.”

The meeting ended with an open question-and-answer session in which members raised concerns about insecurity and youth empowerment.
Members then presented the candidate with an Igbimo Atuluse face cap. Ibiejemite also agreed to take part in a proposed Political Debate/Manifesto Night that the association plans to organise for all candidates for the State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election.
