Whose Script is INEC Playing in Kogi State? – Yahaya Wada

It is no longer news that so many unusual drama were played out and still being played by INEC in my State and nobody is asking questions. A renowned reggae musician Peter Tosh once said and I quote “people are crying for peace but none want justice”. Meanwhile, without justice there can never be peace in any society.

During the last Governorship election in KOGI State, people came out in their large numbers to vote for Prince Abubakar Audu and James Faleke joint ticket to govern the affairs of the State for the next four years but INEC in their own ulterior motive declared that election inconclusive even when they are aware that the numbers of those with the PVCs was less than the 41000 margin between Wada and Audu.

It was clear and obvious that after a rigorous campaign by the duo of Audu/Faleke, electorates were only going to vote for them as manifested on November, 21st 2015. To cap it up here, INEC subsequently transferred Audu/Faleke’s vote to Yahaya Bello who never took part in the electioneering campaigns. Surprisingly, the same reason INEC gave for declaring KOGI STATE Governorship election inconclusive was used in declaring Bayelsa Governorship election conclusive.

As we try to get over the above confusion, INEC once again is here with another gimmick by arrogating itself judicial function when it commissioner in the State yesterday declared that APC will not participate in the forthcoming reruns in the State even when the Court of appeal that ordered for the reruns knowing fully well that electorates must decide who represent them did not stop any Party from participation. Once again, the above contradict INEC position in the Anambra State Supreme Court judgement which declared Ogubego PDP led executive illegal when Osaze Uzie yesterday on NTA program in the morning stated that INEC have no right to interpret and will not give the certificate of returns to the faction that worn the case, that it will rather seek for more interpretation from the Court.

The question here now is why has INEC decided to treat Kogites differently from the people in other states?, don’t we have the right to elect the candidates of our choice? An finally, what offense have we committed to deserve all these treatments from a body that is supposed to be independent and neutral?

From the above, it’s obvious and clear that INEC is playing a script, the question is who’s scripts are they playing? Only time shall tell as the reigns of darkness over light is always temporal.

Just speaking out my mind.

– Comrade Yahaya Wada,
President Kogi Progressives for Audu and Good Governance.
