The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman has condemned the incessant targeted killings in Ebiraland.
The Senator made the condemnation in the wake of the killing of Jaguda Ichogudo by unidentified gunmen.
In recent time, there has been resurgence of assassination in the district, which led to the imposition of ban on Okada movement beyond 7pm.
Among the victims of the serial and mysterious murder so far are traditional rulers, an Imam, a pastor, businessmen, a technocrat and others.
In a statement issued by Michael Jegede, the Senator’s Special Assistant on Media, Abatemi-Usman, while charging the security agents to arrest the situation as a matter of urgency, warned that nobody should take advantage of the current challenge to unleash violence in the area.
The statement quoted him as saying that, “everybody must remain calm, while the law enforcement agents should carry out their investigation in order to unravelled the mystery behind the killings.
“Any group or person found unleashing violence or crisis in respect of the current situation will be severely dealt with. Nobody will take us back to the dark days in Ebiraland. We must strive hard to sustain the relative peace in our land to usher in development. These killings must stop now.”
