Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Tuesday resumed plenary as the Senate reconvened following its extended legislative recess, reaffirming her commitment to active representation and meaningful participation in the business of the Nigerian Senate.
The National Assembly had earlier shifted its resumption date from September 15 to September 29 to allow for the completion of rehabilitation works in the legislative chambers. With lawmakers now back in plenary, attention is expected to focus on pending legislative matters, constitutional reforms, national security, economic concerns and other issues of national importance.
At the resumed sitting, she participated in the presentation of a Senate tribute in honour of the late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as Ibro.
The tribute was presented by Senator Jibrin Isah, representing Kogi East Senatorial District, in remembrance of the former governor who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 77.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier paid tribute to the late former governor, describing his death as a profound loss to Kogi State, the Peoples Democratic Party and Nigeria. She acknowledged Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as a major figure in the political history of Kogi State whose years of public service contributed to the development and political evolution of the state.
Her participation in the Senate tribute further demonstrated the importance she attaches to the history of public service and to honouring leaders who have contributed to the development of Kogi State and Nigeria.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to plenary comes as the Senate begins another phase of legislative business, with lawmakers expected to confront several important national issues.
