Chairman of LordFem Group and House of Representatives aspirant for Yagba Federal Constituency, Engr. Edward Femi Olatunji Meseko has said his support for Governor Yahaya Bello has nothing to do with his aspiration to contest for the House of Reps on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meseko, who stated this while addressing some APC stakeholders in Isanlu over the weekend, said the Governor has received his support since his emergence on January 27, 2016 when he was sworn in.
He said Governor Bello has shown dynamic leadership since assumption of office over two years ago.
“He is our Governor, a true and practical example of what our generation is capable of doing. I decamped from the PDP to give him my support because I believe in his leadership.
“When you look at his achievements so far, you will agree with me that our state needs such a firm leader who will have a no nonsense stance against corruption and indiscipline. He is anointed to take Kogi State to new heights,” he said.
Engr. Meseko urged those who are opposed to the Governor to sheath their swords and “cooperate with the Governor to correct the errors of the past”, saying the Governor has put in place a solid foundation for rapid socio-economic development.
“I want to see our people in the National Assembly fighting for the interest of Kogi State rather than promoting hate speeches on the floor of the House. We didn’t send them there to speak evil of our state but to attract development to Kogi State.
“The Governor should ignore them and concentrate on his laudable programs. We must not make the mistakes of the past again. Our best hands must be the ones to represent us at the National Assembly from 2019.
“My intention to go to the National Assembly is premised on the need to attract development to Yagbaland and Kogi State through lobbying and legislation. I have what it takes to change the current negative narrative of our representation in Yagbaland.
“Our roads, our hospitals, our schools and our youth capacity must be improved. We must work with our State Government to achieve these for our great people.
“Let me also commend the Governor for the Omi Dam Project that has created millionaires among the farming youth. I also thank him for the Takete Ide road that he has given to Julius Berger. When that road is completed, he shouldn’t come to campaign in my place again. My people are very grateful for his efforts at making life better for us”.
