I wish to add my voice to congratulate Professor Joash Amupitan on his nomination as Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
I wish him well, and I wish he would write his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria’s history.
I have three remarks to make regarding his appointment, and they all start with the letter C.

Commendation
Commendation to President Tinubu for giving a lot to my state of Kogi. Commendation for appointing a man whom by the book one will say is a round peg in a round hole. A professor of law and an SAN. It can not get better than that. Commendation to Prof himself for putting in the work to merit such a monumental appointment. Okun a gbe ghin Baba!
Concerns
I am concerned that the professor is from the same local government as Honourable James Faleke, a well-known close ally of President Tinubu. I hope his hands are not on this appointment.
Charge
My secondary school government studies taught me a lot about democracy, the rule of law, independent judiciary, free and fair elections, etc. If I know what I know with 3 years of high school elementary government, I am sure the professor of law and SAN know better than me. So, my charge to the professor is to be above board. Nigerians will completely lose faith in democracy if a professor of law and SAN can not deliver a free, fair, and credible elections.
I wish you a good tenure, Professor!
