Kogi House of Assembly member representing Igalamela/Odolu state constituency, Hon. Friday Sani Makama; Immediate past Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu LGA, Comrade Zakito Umar and Chairman of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alhaji Tahirudeen Abdullahi were among hundreds of mourners at the funeral of a major Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholder in the area, Mrs Awah Amodu.
Speaking after the funeral, Hon Friday Sani Makama described Late Mrs Awah Amodu as a pious Muslim and a committed member of the PDP. He also praised the deceased for bravery and contributions to the growth of her hometown and the local government at large. He pledged to build a mosque in honour of the deceased in her hometown, Uwowo.
Similarly, Comrade Zakito Umar described her death as a colossal loss to her family and the people of the area. He commended the members of Late Awah’s family, Hon Makama, as well as the members of the PDP for the love and support they showed the diseased. He thanked them for their efforts towards saving the life of the diseased, adding that her death was an unquestionable decision of the Almighty Allah.
Chairman of NULGE, Alh. Tahirudeen Yunusa Abdullahi, who is also married to a daughter of the deceased, described Late Awah Amodu as humble, God fearing and a strong pillar to her family, adding that she will be severely missed by all who knew her. He however prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
It would be recalled that Late Awah Amodu died in the late hours of Wednesday, 31st August, 2016 and was buried in accordance with Islamic rights.
