Kogi state Ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs has directed that Alhaji Usman Ahmed should serve as Regent and oversee the affairs of Ankpa Traditional Council, pending the appointment of a substantive Ejeh of Ankpa after completion of the mourning period of the late monarch.

A statement issued yesterday in Lokoja by the Information Officer of the ministry, Mr. Jordan Akpata, said the Special Adviser to the governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiku Ohere made the appointment in line with provisions of Sections 3&4, Sub 1&2 of the Kogi State Chiefs’ Law 23, 2006.

It noted that the decision was consequent upon the demise of the Royal father, Ejeh Ankpa and chairman of Ankpa Area Traditional Council, Alhaji Ahmadu Yakubu who passed on recently at the age of 72.

The statement enjoined members of the public and concerned stakeholders to take note of the new arrangement, as government was determined to ensure security of lives and property of the people in the area.
Until his acting appointment, Alhaji Usman Ahmed has been the Secretary to the Ankpa local government area Traditional Council.
