The Forum of the Past Secretaries of Local Government Councils in Kogi state on Wednesday tackled the Senator Dino Melaye led group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders over their involvement in the crisis rocking the state.

The group condemned the roles being played by Dino and the State Party Chairman, Haddy Ametuo.

Addressing newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, the spokesperson of the former secretaries, Audu Abdulsalam, said Kogi state need peace to to attain her development goals.

The group wondered why Dino, “a pugilist who was suspended in the 6th National Assembly for turning the House of Representatives into a boxing arena could come to Kogi and arrogate to himself the toga of godfather to the governor”.

Describing the state party chairman as “a man of low education”, the group wondered why he decided to join forces with enemies to pull down the house he laboured to build.

The group said there was the need for well meaning people of the state to come together and rescue it from the maladministration of the past governments.

The group noted that Bello should be commended for “the release and immediate payment of the ubiquitous bailout to Kogi state workers, even as he has begun in earnest to beautify and open up major roads in Lokoja, the state capital.

“We must also commend him on his efforts to rid the state of the menace of kidnapping and other violent crimes through the deployment of surveillance helicopters and specialist officers and special military force to the state which has led to the harvest of arresting dozens of men of the underworld even as citizens and travellers and their property are now heavily secured”.

The ex local government scribes however said instead of supporting the governor for better performance, the APC stakeholders had resorted to “pull him down” to the detriment of the state.

They therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun to called Dino and his group in the APC stakeholders to order and save the state from imminent political crisis.
