The maiden edition of GYB soccer tournament which will hold simultaneously across the 21 local government is to kick start on the 31st of August, 2018.
The tournament which is powered by the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engineer Abubakar Ohere is geared towards harnessing the potentials of youths thereby redirecting their youthful exuberance to meaningful ventures.
In a statement issued by the chairman of Kogi State Sports Council, Hon. Abdulmalik Isah (Dolly), the venue for the tournament for Kogi Central, West and East are Okehi Township Stadium, St. Augustine College Kabba, Isah Township Stadium and Anyigba University Stadium respectively.
Hon. Isah further enjoined all soccer lovers and stakeholders across the 21 local government areas of the state to actively participate in the event, adding that Governor Yahaya Bello will never rescind on his promise to place the youths on the path of creative engagement through various sporting activities.
The tournament which is expected to kick start on the 31st August would run through to 16th of September, 2018 with the grand finale to be held at Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
Governor Yahaya Bello, according to the statement will be the Chief Host at the closing ceremony while all members of his cabinet will be special guests.
