Idris HK has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, while expressing confidence in his own senatorial ambition in Kogi East under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
HK made his position known in a statement following his decision to activate his political movement after an appeal by Admiral Jibrin, the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) Coordinator for Kogi East, who reportedly persuaded him to join the group.
In the statement, HK expressed appreciation to the regional coordinator for the confidence reposed in him and affirmed his readiness to contribute to the group’s activities and objectives.

“Thank you, TSG Coordinator for Kogi East, Admiral Jibrin, for convincing me to join the group. My answer is YES, SIR!” he stated.
He further pledged to immediately mobilise and activate his political structure, citing the strategic responsibility entrusted to him and the need to strengthen political engagement ahead of the next general elections.
According to him, the prevailing political developments involving prominent Nigerians of Igala extraction within the Tinubu administration present an opportunity for greater participation and engagement by the people of Kogi East in national affairs.
HK specifically referenced the appointment of a Chief of Army Staff and the recognition of other leaders of Igala extraction under the current administration, describing these developments as factors that could encourage more strategic political participation by the people of the area.
He maintained that his decision to join the TSG was informed by his willingness to contribute to the group’s activities while continuing to pursue his personal political ambition.
Despite declaring support for President Tinubu’s re-election, HK made it clear that his senatorial ambition remains on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.
“We will still push our senatorial ambition on SDP and, God willing, we will come out victorious,” he said.
His statement highlights his intention to support the president’s re-election campaign while maintaining his aspiration to contest for the Kogi East Senatorial District seat under a different political platform.
The development comes as political actors and groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with attention expected to focus on presidential politics and contests for legislative seats across the country.
Kogi East, which comprises several local government areas in Kogi State, remains an important constituency in the state’s political landscape. The forthcoming senatorial contest is expected to attract interest from political parties, aspirants and stakeholders seeking to represent the district at the National Assembly.
For HK, the immediate priority, according to his statement, is to activate his political structure and contribute to the activities of the Tinubu Support Group in Kogi East while keeping his senatorial ambition alive.
His declaration signals his intention to participate in the evolving political activities ahead of 2027, although the outcome of the senatorial contest will ultimately depend on the electoral process and the choices of voters in Kogi East.
