Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, will deliver the keynote address at the public presentation of two major books on electronic evidence authored by Hon. Justice (Professor) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, a retired Judge, scholar, and respected authority on electronic evidence in Nigeria.

The event, which will bring together leading figures from the Bench, Bar, academia, government, and the wider public, will also mark the formal inauguration of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students. The two books to be presented are “Electronic Evidence, Second Edition” and “A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume II, 2020–2025.”

Both works are expected to make significant contributions to the development of law, judicial practice, legal education, and the administration of justice in Nigeria, particularly in an era where digital transactions, online communications, cyber activity, and electronically generated materials have become central to litigation and governance.

Chief Agabi’s keynote address will focus on “The State of the Nation,” a subject considered both timely and important given the present challenges confronting Nigeria’s democracy, justice system, economy, security, institutions, and moral direction.

Chief Kanu Agabi is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal minds. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Commander of the Order of the Niger, (CON), he has had a long and illustrious career in law, public service, politics, and national leadership. He served as Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, where he occupied the highest legal office in the country and provided leadership on matters of constitutional law, justice administration, governance, and national policy.

Beyond public office, Chief Agabi is admired for his depth of intellect, calm authority, humility, courage, and commitment to the rule of law. He is known as a lawyer of great learning and moral conviction, a statesman whose voice carries weight across generations, and a public figure whose interventions often reflect wisdom, balance, patriotism, and concern for the soul of the nation.

His choice as keynote speaker is therefore significant. It reflects the importance of the occasion and the stature of the author, Hon. Justice (Professor) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, whose work in the area of electronic evidence has helped deepen understanding of one of the most dynamic areas of modern law.

The event will not only celebrate scholarship and legal development but will also advance a humanitarian vision through the launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students. The Foundation is established to support academically promising but financially disadvantaged students, giving them access to educational opportunities that can transform their lives and future.

For Justice Omolaye-Ajileye, the Foundation represents a personal and purposeful commitment to helping young people overcome financial barriers to education. It is rooted in the belief that poverty should not be allowed to destroy talent, ambition, or destiny.

The public presentation of the books and the inauguration of the Foundation are expected to be a landmark occasion, combining intellectual engagement, national reflection, and charitable purpose. With Chief Kanu Agabi delivering the keynote address, the gathering promises to be both thought-provoking and inspiring, offering not only a celebration of legal scholarship but also a sober conversation on Nigeria’s present condition and future direction.
