Eid-el-Kabir: Rep. Halims, Abagwu, Ajigi, Others Greet Muslims, Calls for Peace, Sacrifice

The member representing Ankpa-Omala-Olamaboro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls marking Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In an Eid-el-Kabir message issued on Monday, the lawmaker prayed that “Almighty Allah will accept the pilgrimage of those in the holy land and bless the efforts of those who will offer sacrifice.”

Halims, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development, called for “reflections on the spirit of sacrifice and resilience displayed by Prophet Ibrahim(AS) to God’s instruction and admonished Muslims on upholding same, especially as it has to do with nation building.’’

The Federal Lawmaker urged ‘the Muslim community to keep hope alive, to continue to practice compliance with health guidelines and not to relent in prayers for an end to the disruptions, especially the suspension of Holy Pilgrimage of Foreign countries caused by Covid-19.

The statement further appealed to all communities in Ankpa federal constituency and Kogi State at large, to uphold peace and harmony, urging all residents to observe security alertness, practice regular hygiene in order to protect everyone from COVID-19 Delta Variance.

Halims reassured constituents of his commitment towards upholding the good representation he is known for, with focus on constituency development and humanitarian services.

Also, the Executive Chairman of Ankpa local government area, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu congratulated Muslim faithful across Kogi state and all over the globe on the celebration Eid-el-Kabir tomorrow.

He also called for sustained prayers for peace and unity in the country.

The chairman made the call in his Sallah message signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ismail Coded on Monday in Ankpa.

He said “Eid-el-Kabir is a season of love, peace, togetherness and sacrifice.”

He urged the Muslims to emulate the Holy Prophet Mohammed by imbibing the ideals of sacrifice as exemplified by him.

“I enjoin you to use the period to uphold the spiritual benefit of the celebration by extending a hand of friendship and solidarity across all divides.

“I urge you to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to the higher authority as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammed.

“This is an opportunity for us to reflect and pray for our nation, state, council and for all those in leadership positions. It is necessary so that God in his infinite mercy will continue to guide them as they steer the affairs of the country,” he said.

Abagwu assured Ankpa residents that his administration will collaborate with security agencies to ensure peaceful and harmonious Sallah celebration in the state.

In the same vein, social commentator and politician, Engr. Matthew Ajigi called on Muslims to be thankful to God Almighty as they celebrate Eid-el Kabir on Tuesday.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Monday, Ajigi said “we have every reason to thank God for his mercy over humanity. Despite the present situation of our country we must be hopeful and prayerful at all times. The fact that we are still alive, gives room for thanksgiving.”

He prayed that the precarious situation of the country will be handled by almighty Allah through his grace and wisdom.

“We have no other country to call our own. On behalf of my humble self and my family I wish all concerned in this festive period, a wonderful outing, peace, greatness and above it all fear of God.”

On the lips of the Kogi born singer and chief executive officer of Money Matter Gang (MMG) music record label, Yahaya Abdullahi is icalls for peace, caution and tolerance to ensure stable polity and unity as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir tomorrow.

In a statement signed by himself and made available to journalist in Zaria, on Monday, said “this occasion calls for sober reflection, prayers, and actions that will address Nigeria’s myriad of challenges especially the flickering flames of insecurity.”

Yahaya, popularly known as Young Tizee, also called on Muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for the peace and well-being of our nation.

“There is the need to reflect on and imbibe the exemplary legacies of the Prophet Mohammed, especially his life of love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. I do believe this Eid-el-Kabir has come at a time of great challenges, both economic and social, challenges that threaten our common bond and values that hold us together. It therefore offers us a great opportunity for deep reflection and rededication of our lives.”

‘Wire de Wire’ crooner noted that the country “is passing through a very difficult phase occasioned by a scary security situation never seen before but with a prayer of Nigerians and honest application of laws by her leaders this shall pass and we shall return to the path of peace and sustained economic development.”

Young Tizze urge Muslims to be reminded that they have no other nation to call theirs beside Nigeria, hence the need for all well-meaning Nigerians to be patriotic and support the fight against insurgency, kidnapping and all forms of insecurity and criminality bedevilling Nigeria.

“It is my hope and prayers that the challenges of our nation will very soon be a thing of the past as Nigerians renew their commitment to God at this trying moment. We call on the government to do everything to rightly curbed criminality in the nation through more technologically based surveillance and prompt action against violence in any disguise.”
