The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Steel Development, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has reiterated his desire to see Ajaokuta Steel Company operating in its full capacity.
Halims, who represents Ankpa federal constituency in the green chamber, made this known when he hosted the Minister for Mines and Steel Development, Arc Olamilekan Adegbite, in his office.
He called for smooth legislative-executive relationship and a critical partnership for job creation.
The federal lawmaker added that he needs the ministry’s co-operation, much more than ever, especially for partnerships that will ease job opportunities for his constituents.
He noted that all the issues discussed are focal points of the House of Representatives’ “Updated Legislative Agenda”, that was launched in July in a bid to tackle the setbacks created by the deadly Covid-19 outbreak.
Adegbite assured Halims that all the issues discussed will be treated accordingly as soon as the 2021 appropriation bill is passed into law and signed into law by the President.
Adegbite, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon Sampson Ogah, thanked the lawmaker for the excellent reception.
Ogah harped on the revenue potentials of the steel sector, assuring that he will not relent in bringing to bear all his erstwhile skilled knowledge acquired from the energy industry for mines and steel development as an alternative revenue base of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
