The son of Late Senator Salihu Otaru Ohize, Muhammed Ohize has heeded the clarion calls by his people to contest for the Okene/Ogori Magongo House of Representatives seat under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023.
The younger Ohize said the desire for vibrant representation and reverse under-development is one of the reasons he decided to join the race.
Ohize added that he wants to be in the National Assembly to support Governor Yahaya Bello when he becomes President of Nigeria in 2023.
In a statement he signed and made available to journalists by Owuda Muhammed, Ohize said he is convinced that Governor Bello is better positioned in terms of experience, intelligent, exposure and nation-wide acceptability to fix Nigeria and rescue it from current pathetic state.
“In the spirit of patriotism, clarion calls beckoned on me to assume one of the higher societal responsibility centered around service to our people with utmost sincerity of purpose. My intention for venturing into politics is premised on self-determination to lend support to well meaning efforts to foster economic prosperity and unprecedented development of our dear constituency and our nation.
“I will not deter in actualizing this task, especially now that we have a very young, educated, intelligent and energetic governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello that Nigerians are calling on to take the mantle of leadership of this country come 2023. He equally needs educated and intelligent youths in the national assembly to help him achieve his dreams and fix this nation.
“As patriots, the state of our dear nation, which is declining in development with an endangered citizenry is worrisome. Recent happenings in the country portends doom if we do not rise to this challenge which stares at every one of us in the face.
“I am truly poised to join other well-meaning patriots to embark on the much craved rescue mission, as I know not of any nation other than Nigeria that I can call my country,” he said.
He noted that the task at hand is beyond the blame game of pointing accusing fingers at the handlers of the nation, “but it is time to gear up to form a strong-willed machinery that will fix the nation and GYB is the answer.”
“My ideological belief over the years has been to set out on a mission to contribute my quota, as a citizen, to the development of our society. And with every sense of modesty, I humbly state that I have been faithful to this commitment in my dear constituent, State, and the nation at large.
“To this end I have accepted the calls to join hands with His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello in his rescue mission by representing my people, giving my all and thus committing my innate abilities and capabilities to serve as a representative of my people.
“I, Muhammed Salihu Ohize have accepted the clarion calls to contest for the Okene- Ogori/Magongo Federal Constituency seat in the 10th National Assembly. With a deep sense of humility, I pledge to pursue this aspiration with genuine purpose to serve my people.
“The project Young Ohize 2023 welcomes everyone on board to join hands in support of the realization of the noble aspiration poised to restore the confidence of the people through sincere representation. The Young Ohize 2023 Campaign Group shall form the vehicle for coordinating this project and the day of formal declaration would be announced by the group.”
