Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Sunday joined the Ebira community in celebrating the fifth anniversary of the ascension of the Onoba (District Head), Chief Otaga Abdulyekini Usman, to the traditional leadership position.
The senator attended the anniversary ceremony, held on October 4, 2026, at Old Karu Village, Abuja, at the invitation of the traditional ruler. She joined family members, traditional leaders, members of the Ebira community and other well-wishers at the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Akpoti-Uduaghan congratulated the Onoba and described the anniversary as an important milestone in his traditional leadership journey.

“I warmly congratulate Onoba Otaga Abdulyekini Usman on the fifth anniversary of his reign. This milestone is a moment to celebrate his service to the people and to reflect on the responsibilities that come with traditional leadership,” she said.



The senator stressed that traditional institutions remain critical to preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace and strengthening communal bonds.
“Our traditional institutions are custodians of our culture, history and communal values. Their role in fostering peace, unity and peaceful coexistence remains indispensable to the development of our communities,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also extended her felicitations to the Ebira community in Karu, Nyanya, Karshi and adjoining areas, commending them for preserving their cultural identity and contributing to the development of their host communities.
“I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to the entire Ebira community in Karu, Nyanya, Karshi and their environs. I commend you for your resilience, unity and continued commitment to the development of your communities and the Federal Capital Territory,” she said.
She urged community members to continue to promote unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, noting that collective progress could only be achieved through cooperation and shared responsibility.
“As we celebrate this anniversary, let us continue to uphold the values of unity, peace and mutual respect. Our cultural heritage is a source of strength, and we must continue to use it to build bridges and contribute meaningfully to the society around us,” she added.
The senator wished the Onoba continued wisdom, good health and strength in the discharge of his traditional responsibilities. She also prayed for greater peace, prosperity and development within the Ebira community.
The event drew members of the Ebira community, traditional leaders, family members, friends and well-wishers, who gathered to mark the fifth anniversary of the Onoba’s reign.
