The lawmaker representing Lokoja II constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Idris Ndako has called on electorates in Kogi state to always use their votes to elect leaders they can trust and hold accountable.

Ndako made the call in a chat with journalists at the end of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting in Lokoja recently.

He commended the leadership of the party for sustaining the party at all levels, especially during the Makarfi – Sheriff leadership crisis and urged them to use the Supreme Court victory as an opportunity to have deep reflection on the failure of the PDP in 2015 general elections.

He described votes as a great weapon to elect right candidates, adding that without it no political office holder can assume office.

“The power of votes must be used wisely in the fourth coming general election. It will be a choice between poverty or development, a choice between electing God-fearing leaders who will salvage the state from the maladministration of All Progressive Congress (APC) as been witnessed since they took over power.

Ndako warned electorates on the failure to use their votes to elect credible leaders in 2019.

“We must desist from electing leaders who do not care about our interest”, he said.

Hon Ndako stressed that the forthcoming elections are very crucial to the future of Nigeria and Kogi state in particular. He added that the people of Kogi state must ensure that they play an active part in what he described as ‘changing the change’.

He commended the leadership of the party for their determination to ensure that internal democracy and the will of people prevail in PDP. The lawmaker noted that allowing people to elect those that will represent them will bring back the lost glory of the party.

On the vote of confidence passed on the Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam, the lawmaker commended the members for their foresight and their resolution to lineup behind their people.

“The vote of confidence was passed on the Speaker because within the short period he assumed the leadership of the House, he has sustained a crisis-free Assembly, displayed unparalleled leadership quality and always identify with the masses in Kogi state”, he said.
