When I woke up on Wednesday morning to prepare for the grand finale of PDP rally in Anyigba, I had an intuition it was going to be a great day but nothing prepared me for what an incredibly awesome day it turned out to be. I went for a campaign rally which before my eyes transfigured into the gathering of a mass movement; a movement of people desirous and hungry for liberation; a movement of ordinary people who were tired of their shackles and slavery in Egypt who gathered around their Moses to lead them to the promised land. It was an experience I will not forget in a hurry, if ever.

All through the campaigns as we traversed the nooks and crannies of our beloved state to canvass support, on three occasions I witnessed times our gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Musa Wada, broke down in tears at the expression of the people’s hunger and thirst for good leadership on the one hand and on the other. Their acceptance of Engr. Wada as the one who have they accepted, wholeheartedly, to lead them out of the dark abyss the APC maladministration in the state has thrown them.

From Omala to Olamaboro, from Dekina to Bassa, from Ofu to Igalamela/Odolu to Idah, Ijumu; Kabba, Yagba East, Yagba West, Lokoja-Koto, the people embraced our candidate and party with outstretched arms.

Engr. Wada, in all the places visited, promised prompt payment of salaries and pensions, revisit the incompetently executed screening exercise, ensure free of payment of WAEC and NECO fees, upgrade the State university to an enviable state, address the issues of lecturers sacked unjustly, address youth unemployment,  ensure women empowerment and provide accessible and affordable health care facilities across the State. He promised to pay more attention to security issues and to ensure youths do not see thuggery as a profitable and useful venture.

He also promised to ensure the rehabilitation of the Ajaokuta-Itobe road as well as create viable and sustainable alternative sources of revenue to the state so that governance and administration of the would not depend on monthly allocations from Abuja. These and many more were his promises.

On why he shed tears, he said he was overcome by emotion witnessing the level of support and acceptance which he said is new and never been witnessed in Kogi politics.

Due to threats of violence and out of respect for the sanctity of human life which no ambition is worth, the PDP candidate had wondered what sense there was in gambling with the safety of thousands of supporters when the APC led government, in a shameful show of territorial marking, declined to grant access to campaign venue in Ebiraland. This was not a setback for the team as we moved to Anyigba for the grand finale on Wednesday 13th of November, 2019.

Two outstanding governors of the PDP were on hand in Anyigba to support the movement. They were Governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom State  and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. The PDP secretariat deliberately sent in these two who embody development to send a message of hope to Kogites, that Engr Wada/Aro will develop the State.

In his appeal to Kogites to do the right thing for the State and posterity, Engr. Wada said “I have no money to give you, but I have realistic ideas to bring development to give you when elected.”

He urged all Kogites to come and vote, defend the votes and avoid selling their futures for their push money.

It is my hope that Kogites will utilize the power in their hands by using their PVCs to punish failure come Saturday.
