SSS Alerts Dekina People on Infiltration of Boko Haram

Kogi State Director of State Security Service (SSS) has cautioned stakeholders in Dekina Local Government Area to be regularly at alert and forestall the spread of Boko Haram activities in guise of Islamic School or any organisation which might recruit and indoctrinate people into the sect.

The director, Mr Mike Febara, made this known in Dekina recently when he paid a security related visit to the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Mohammed Ali. He said people should beware of Boko Haram insurgents who neither respect Islam nor Christianity.

He advised traditional rulers, parents and other stakeholders to keep surveillance of their children’s movement, the school they attend, the type of preaching or teaching they receive, the associations they belong to and their friends.

Mr . Febara advised Comrade Ali to have regular security meetings with all relevant stakeholders and always listen to people to allow peace reign, declaring that the war to eradicate Boko Haram is total but requires the collaboration of the people.

In a press statement made available to The Graphic by the Information Officer of the area, Mr Samuel Usman, Comrade Mohammed Ali commended the security boss for sustaining peace in the state. He however intimated the director and his team about incessant clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the LG, in addition to armed robbery incidents, describing the trend as worrisome and requires urgent attention by security operatives to redress it; more so that the yuletide is approaching.

Comrade Ali applauded traditional rulers and law enforcement agencies for their untiring efforts to maintain peace in their domain and called on the people of the area to remain vigilant and report to the police any suspicious person trying to breach peace.

He assured the director of SSS of his administration’s resolve to support all security stakeholders in the area to sustain peace.

In their separate speeches, the Ejeh of Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje; Onu Ogohi Anyigba, Alhaji Shaibu Okolo and Onu Ojikpadala, Chief Isa Edime thanked the SSS director for the security enlightenment and assured him that Boko Haram would not have a place in the area.
