Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali said the successful completion of Ramadan fast symbolises the virtue of love, perseverance, tolerance and peaceful coexistence demonstrated by the preaching and practice of Islam as a religion and a way of life.
In a statement to commemorate 2018 eidul fitr, Aidoko said he rejoices with Moslems from Kogi East.
He admonished moslem brothers and sisters to sustain the lessons, teaching and practices of the revered holy month particularly the thirty days restrictions from eating and the attendant sacrifices so as to inculcate the practice to their daily lives.
The Senate committee chairman on sustainable development goals said he was particularly emboldened by the singular act of magnanimity, show of love and generosity during the season, saying Nigerians, both moslems and non-moslems. should adopt that instinct as a way of life.
Senator Aidoko urged moslems not to jettison the lessons of the holy month so soon, saying it will encourage them to live a life worthy of emulation and good neighbourliness.
He urged them to use the occasion to show love to one another.
He advised the people of Kogi East to reject leaders whose inordinate political ambition is tailored towards overheating the polity so as to achieve their selfish ends, stating that they should look before they leap.
