Improve Power Supply or Stop Billing, Kogi Lawmaker Tells AEDC

Member representing Okene 1 constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi A. T Ahmed has challenged the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to improve on the current epileptic power supply in Okene.
Lawi made this known during a terse meeting between the lawmaker, AEDC officials and stakeholders in the community at Okene local government secretariat on Wednesday.
Hon. Lawi lamented that the current epileptic power supply to his constituents is disastrous to their economy, education and well being.
The lawmaker and stakeholders at the meeting berated AEDC for failing to honour an earlier agreement on 12-hours power supply per day. The agreement was reach at a meeting with AEDC last year with Chief Joseph Makoju in attendance.
AEDC was accused of throwing the entire town into perpetual darkness without any cogent reason for months while the monthly billing keeps increasing.
AEDC officials at the meeting were told to put a hold to disconnection of electricity for now even though they have shared their bills pending the outcome of the meeting on the adjourned till Thursday, June 21.
The Okene Branch manager of AEDC was not in meeting but his representatives responded by saying they are going to convey all that transpired in the meeting to him. The AEDC PRO assured the stakeholders that the management of the electricity distribution company is working on the non-availability of prepaid meters.
