Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended the Kogi State APC Former Commissioners Forum for maintaining political unity and supporting his administration’s developmental goals, describing the group as a dependable pillar of governance and party solidarity.
Speaking Tuesday at the Government Science Secondary School in Lokoja during the launch and distribution of back-to-school materials to public primary and secondary schools across the state, Ododo praised the former political appointees for their continued dedication to the state and their alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Governor noted that the forum’s educational intervention demonstrated that the political solidarity and mutual trust established under his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, remain strong. He recalled a collective agreement made under Bello’s leadership that all members would support whichever candidate emerged as governor, adding that his administration remains committed to an inclusive approach to governance by keeping former appointees actively involved.

The back-to-school initiative, organized and funded by the former cabinet members, aims to ease the financial strain on parents and complement ongoing state investments in public education. Ododo described the gesture as a practical demonstration of social responsibility and called on other organizations and private individuals to invest in human capital development and the welfare of children across Kogi State.

During the event, the Governor announced that the forum had also resolved to undertake the comprehensive renovation of Government Science Secondary School, Lokoja. The commitment followed remarks by the school’s principal, Mr. Ojapa Stephen Ajayi, who outlined the institution’s historical significance, and alumnus Prince Sani Ogu Salisu, who urged officials to restore the school’s former boarding status to help promote inter-regional unity among students.
