Member representing Yagba Federal constituency in the House of Representative, Elder Leke Abejide, has paid contractors to commence total re-construction of the Kabba-Isanlu-Egbe road in Kogi State.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Abraham Ibukun, in Abuja on Thursday, the first stage of re-construction will cover the stretch from Iluagba in Ijumu LGA to Isanlu in Yagba East local government.

Abejide, who chairs the House Committee on Customs and Excise, said he has been making unrelenting efforts to ensure the bad road from Aiyetoro to Egbe is constructed by the Federal Government.

He recalled his visit to the Minister of Works on the need to urgently re-construct the road connecting Kogi and Kwara states, but reasoned that paucity of funds from the Federal government may delay the work, hence the need for his intervention.

The Federal lawmaker stated that the deplorable state of the road requires total reconstruction as it is beyond palliative interventions.

“I have been making frantic efforts to see that our road, from Aiyetoro to Egbe, is constructed as awarded by Federal Government, especially during this dispensation that I am part of.

“I decided to send my team on infrastructure for inspection of the road and I equally paid a television station to visit the road to call attention of Mr President and concerned Nigerians to know what we are passing through in our fatherland, which they did.

“Having seen the report, especially from Iluagba to Isanlu, I knew the problem is beyond palliative measure but total construction. I have taken it upon myself to construct the 15 Kilometers from Iluagba to Isanlu starting from today.

“I have paid the contractors substantial deposit yesterday the 3/11/2021 to move to site and by end of today equipments will get to the site. It will take us approximately 50 days to complete the project because bulldozers have to first scrap off completely the remaining little broken tarred portions and expand the road to Isanlu before real work will commence.

“By the time I finish, what we remain will just be to lay asphalt on it.

“As you are aware and equally know that my word is a bond. Whatever I promised to do is what I will do and I want to emphasize once again that all rural roads in Yagba Federal Constituency will get attention from coming year and I will complete them, God willing, before the expiration of my tenure and plan again on how to continually maintain them as long as I am in government,” he said.
