Present Administration Will Not Compromise on Standard and Quality of Education – Wada

The quality of education in Kogi State is to be improved upon towards making it comparable with those of developed nations.

Capt. Idris Wada the Kogi State Governor said this when he received a delegation from the Association of African Universities, Accra, Ghana at the weekend.

Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, the State Tertiary institutions he noted are ranked among the best in the nation, promised Government’s continues support in ensuring that the standard they have attained is sustained.

The Governor promised improved funding and infrastructural development in all the State Tertiary Institution this year.

While noting that the present administration would not compromise on standard and quality, called for partnership between the AAU and Institutions in the State towards training and quality assurance.

The Governor, who promised to look into the request of the AAU for State Tertiary Institutions to join its membership, commended them for the release of Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, the present Secretary to the State Government, who last served as the Associations Secretary General.

Earlier in his speech, Prof. Etienne Ehouan Ehile, Secretary General of the AAU, said the Association is concerned about improving the quality of higher education in Africa.

He noted that the Association aside contributing to leadership and management development is also concern about improving higher education in Africa for employment and socio-economic development.

The Secretary General disclosed that the Association presently has 1,500 schools under its umbrella commended the Kogi State Government for its seriousness to funding education, noting that the ranking of its schools is an indication of Government’s commitment.

The Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Vice – Chancellor of Salem University, and Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic attended the visit.
