PDP Warns INEC Against Compromise Over Alleged Attempt to Hijack PVC Collection in Dekina

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in Dekina local government area of Kogi state, Alh Abdullahi Haruna SAN, has warned the Local Government Electoral Officer [EO] and other staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who have been sent to various wards for distribution of permanent voters cards (PVC) not to compromise the standard.

In a statement issued on Friday, the PCC Chairman called on security agencies in Dekina LGA of an intended plan of the ruling party to circumvent the collection process.

“This warning is coming from an attempt made by APC stakeholders across all the 12 wards of the Local Government to divert the collections of PVC from the original collections centers to an undisclosed place just as in the case of Iyale, Odu1, Ojikpadala, Ogbabede and Anyigba wards.

“Their aim is to hijack the process in other to pick out their loyalists’ PVCs and burn the remaining ones not knowing that its has a dipilitative effect on the population size of the Dekina Local Government been one of the largest LGAs in the country,” the statement read.

He called on all the relevant stakeholders in the local government, including INEC, PDP, APC, religious leaders and traditional leaders to “focus on how to sensitise members of the public on the importance of PVC collection, that its futuristic gains is far greater than today’s gains”.

The senior advocate called on all PDP faithful who have not collected his or her PVC to go their various ward headquarters to get it.

He commended all PDP stakeholders in various wards for standing on ground for making sure the right thing is done concerning the ongoing PVC collection exercise.
