The Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ali Bello, carried out an unscheduled inspection of the Kogi International Airport in Lokoja and assured residents that the project will be completed on schedule.
The visit was meant to assess progress at the construction site and reaffirm the state government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Bello and his team were taken round the site by Engineer Sun, who represented the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the company handling the project. Sun briefed the delegation on ongoing construction activities and the progress recorded so far.

Bello said the Ododo administration was determined to see the project through, adding that the government means well for the people of Kogi and intends to deliver projects that improve their lives and strengthen the state’s economic prospects.
He described the airport as a strategic infrastructure investment that would open the state to greater economic opportunities, ease the movement of people and goods, attract local and international investors, and stimulate commercial activity across Kogi.
According to Bello, the administration remains focused on projects with lasting benefits for residents. He said the airport, once completed, would be a significant addition to the state’s infrastructure and a catalyst for economic development.
The unannounced nature of the visit, officials said, reflects the government’s resolve to monitor ongoing projects closely and ensure that contractors deliver in line with the administration’s development priorities.
Bello expressed confidence in the state’s development agenda, saying Ododo is committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Kogi through strategic investment in infrastructure and other critical sectors.
The proposed airport is expected to improve the state’s connectivity, boost investment, facilitate trade and tourism, and create jobs for residents. The Ododo administration has continued to prioritise infrastructure as part of a broader push for economic growth, improved livelihoods and sustainable development in the state.
