OSSC Kickstarts Ododo Inter-Secondary School Debate Competition in Kogi West

The Ododo School to School Campaign (OSSC) organisation on Friday commenced the Ododo inter-school debate contest at GYB Science Secondary School, Adankolo, Lokoja in Kogi West.

The occasion was graced by the APC political stalwarts in the state with fourteen different secondary school as participants to handle topical issues that ranged from social media roles in the modern world, difference between the public and private schools in line the current trends in Nigeria.

The competition provided ample opportunity to develop, build and improve on the learning and speaking skills of the students amongst their peers in Kogi state. The performance evaluation of each contestant was fabulous and the panel of judges decided to reward all with customized exercise books accordingly.

Engr. Muhammad Aliyu Omeiza, the OSSC BoT chairman who also doubled as the chairman of the occasion, commended the debaters for their wonderful speaking skills, noting that the students must define their goals, they must avoid bad company and work hard to achieve the set goals.

In her addressing speech, the chairperson of STETSCOM, ably represented by the director of schools and colleges, Mrs. Mecheri Sabdat Yakubu, lauded the organisation for the wonderful partnership, adding that Kogi teachers would continue to play their pivotal roles in nation building.

While making his remarks, the able commissioner for water resources, Hon. Abdulmumin Danga, meticulously diagnosed the indepth analysis of social media and admonished the contestants to always explore the positive sides. He also highlighted the significant importance of public schools, stating that the students should carry the messages to their aged parents and neighbours in the communities to vote Ododo so that the declaration of free education by Governor Yahaya Bello (GYB) could be holistically implemented and sustained.

On his part, Hon. Wemi O. Jones, the indefatigable commissioner for education, saluted the management of OSSC for providing platform to talk to students on the legacy project achieved by the administration of GYB, he mentioned that the hosting school for today’s programme, GYB Science Secondary School, Adankolo, is built across the three senatorial districts in Kogi state. Hon. Wemi charged the teenagers to spread the message of good work of GYB to their households so they can vote Ododo as the best candidate with charisma, determination and capacity that would consolidate on past achievements his boss.

Responding to the outcome of the event, the director general of the organisation, Engr. Chatta Ubaid, described the competion evaluation as a huge success in view of the amazing performance of participants. He added that the character, leadership traits and behaviour of students have been impacted tremendously.

Hon. Muhammad Ismaila Lawal, the BoT Vice chairman who also doubled as the President of Dynamic Ebira Friends gave vote of thanks and appreciated all invited guests and students.

Other invited guests who graced the occasion were Hon. Alex Audu, SSA to governor on grassroot mobilisation, Hon. Musa Sadiq, SSA to governor on climate change, Elder Damisa Custom (RTD), Hon. Zuleihat, Mrs. Ahmed Ladi, vice principal for administration and Mr. Yakubu Abdou, vice principal for academic both were from the host school.
