Opinion: On Kogi West, Your Excellency, Please Open Up To Seduction

There is no ripe time for political beautification and sieving. Every passing and ticking time in a politically informed and charged environment allows for thorough separation between the gaunge (a geological term for unwanted materials) and the items of values.
As we sieve and beautify to get the best product of value, we must be circumspect not to create more dirts. It has implications however they seem negligible. Due diligence is needed to critically execute initiatives vital to our political survival. While we do, in political environment, decisions must revolve, evolve and relate to issues around people. In other words, people’s opinions, decisions, wishes must be captured in the political decisions we make.
I am saying this in wake of the uproar on the purported endorsement of Smart Adeyemi by our great party, the APC, to represent Kogi West in the next general elections. I have no personal issues against whoever endorsed, stamped, affirmed Adeyemi as our party’s candidate.
But while we endorsed, it must not be garrulously done to push others away. This will amount to embracing the not too distant past we loathed the PDP and our great party for in Kogi State. We are adding colour to our vomits just so they can look beautiful to be swallowed again. It shouldn’t be so. A level playing ground should be created for all to test the length of their aspiration and the distance they can go and cover.
We are young in age and politically not too savvy, but growing to meet the prepared future where our experience and antecedents would open doors for us. So we must be careful not to amplify hatred and division just so we can advance someone else’s ambition to the detriment of the collective decision of the people who wish otherwise. The same people we will need tomorrow, should not be taken for granted today.
It is to be noted that when a ceaseless advance of ambiguity and uncertainty looms, operating with inadequate speed and agility to carry out important decisions is no different than having an insufficient water supply when crossing  the desert.
Whether we like it or not, next year’s elections, especially Kogi West, would be turbulent because the stakes are high. If we do not appropriately manage our beautification and select people of value for election, the gaunge we would have created will come back and rob off on our value.
Everyone should be allowed to test their strength in the primary. Human diligence must be upheld and applied in the face of this awkward and alleged endorsement or imposition as the case may be.
This is the ideology of APC, (party where everyone has equal right to pursue their own measured ambition). Nobody’s ambitions should be sized and measured. This is a clear departure from what we know the PDP for. And if we keep to the templates of PDP, then the people would show us the PDP way.
More so that the party is talking reconciliation, mending fences and bridging all divides, very selfish individuals cannot by their own microscopic ambitions railroad the party into taking unpopular decisions. We know those of them from Kogi West who have ‘permutatively’ and mathematically factored their own ambitions into endorsement and not party’s ideologies. We remain vigilant in the wake of this unpopular alignment. It is not of the people and it can never be for the people. It of the few weak politicians from the west for their own selfishness and greed.
Government should critically understand that when leaders decided to pursue a particular important change initiative and or realise that it has entered an unintended and extended period of uncertainty, and because many mountains still lie ahead, how to manage the people should be critical. This is because there’s human variables that influence electoral victories, and this must be orchestrated to climb the mountain that is ahead in 2019.
It is even imperative, before endorsement to carry out serious appraisals of all the intended aspirants, appraisals on the people’s wishes and desires. This is to be sure that the potential benefits derivable in endorsement of a candidate outweighs every other and that all critical variables that would successfully impact 2019 elections are factored.
It is rumoured that Smart was said to have been endorsed by the party because he’s being positioned to mount the sit of the Senate President. It will not work. No permutations favoured him. No calculations favoured him. It is a mirage and an act capable of hoodwinking everyone into believing in travesty that is coated in Trojan Horse aspiration.
As it stands today, Buhari and Osibanjo will win in 2019 and we’d have more Senators from the Souths under the APC and by the opened templates, senate president sit cannot remain anywhere around the North but in the Souths aside the South West. And if anyone cares to listen and understands, that’s Akpabio’s ambition. And he’s positioning himself for that.
So we shouldn’t be cajoled into taking an unpopular decisions because someone is playing the mind game and throwing the cards of Senate President onboard.
I will not fault anyone’s decisions and endorsement, but please allow for level playing ground. We cannot continue to create needless and avoidable problems, only to come back tomorrow and talk of reconciliation. It should be avoided today.
You can not satisfy everybody’s political aspiration at a time, but you can always uphold and prevail that popular opinion holds way. That’s the true practice of genuine democracy.
And to the elderly, especially those who have built their selfishness around governments, the Governor of Kogi State is a young man that is amplifying his hold in Nigeria Political stairs. He’s climbing, please help him be steadily and not falter him because of some myopic short term interests that will serve only few and not the majority.
To the Youths, it is good to be ambitious, but let’s grow capacity to create proper working environment for tomorrow. Creating this environment also means having the ability to understand and operationalize the knowledge, skills and resilience necessary to optimise the paradigms emerging Nigeria presents to us.
We should understand that in 2019 Buhari will win and Yahaya Bello will win. Power after 2023 will go back to the South and in 2031 power will return back to the North and Yahaya Bello, a Northerner, by this time God’s willing, will be 59 years, he’d be in a strong position to aspire as president of Nigeria. So whatever steps he takes today should be one that people can positively reference to tomorrow. He must be guided and helped to take the best possible decisions that will greatly amplify a decent ambition for him tomorrow.
To our Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, I have this to say to you, success in turbulent political times requires definitive leaders who are both willing and able to be the architect of their political future. The architectural approach requires an understanding of the political paradigms, how they evolved and sustained, and how they become dysfunctional.
In this political environment where interests are what inform how our pendulum swings, good ideas are very seductive. And Your Excellency Sir, in the wake of Kogi West Senatorial District, please open up to seduction.
