Opinion: Mockery of Empowerment Schemes

I always ask my self if I am from this state or country, going by the way people mock our poor people in the name of empowerment.

Some politicians, after waking up, in order to please their masters, will cook up an empowerment ceremony. Indigent women and students are lined up in the sun, with full publicity to be given two exercise books or a cup of rice. Some are called from far off places to be given #2000 which cannot cater for transport fees.

Many in the name of widows, collapsed in the venue after receiving 5kg of rice. Many may even be promised scholarship in front of camera to be relayed to their master , in order to retain them. At the end of it all, nothing is done.

Hungry widows are made to eat juju meal that will make them win elections or retain the favor of oga at the top. God is watching you.

No wonder, many of them leave office to become another thing.

To put the scheme straight, help to a needy or widow is far different from empowerment. Four yards of Ankara cloth, which ordinarily they can not wear or give to their children is purely Sarah .

You empower someone with what will make him or her earn a living that will let him care for all other needs. Items like generators for barbers, welding machines, okada motorcycles, hair dressing equipments among others.

So any one giving out exercise books instead of scholarships to university level, or other items are not doing empowerment and should henceforth desist from publicising innocent children and poor women.

Any help done with political motivation or inspiration has no reward from God. After all, any help done should be confidential.

God bless the cheerful givers.
