Social Commentator Attacked in Lokoja, Fingers Kogi Speaker

A social commentator and public affairs analyst, Dr Tolu Omotugba narrowly escaped assassination Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Wednesday.
Omotugba was attacked at his mini restaurant close to GTB bank in Lokoja this evening by unknown assailants, numbering about 5, who disguised as customers who came to patronize him.
According to an eye witness, the assailants came with dangerous weapons which they used freely on him.
When Kogireports reached out to Dr Omotugba, he confirmed the incident.
According to him, he Speaker of Kogi State House of assembly, Hon. Kolawole Mathew was behind the attack as he earlier threatened to attack him.
“I have a voice recording of my conversation with the Speaker where he promised to attack me. When the assailants came to my shop, the first thing they did was to take my phone to delete the conversation having told the Speaker that I have him on record. Unknown to them, I have already sent it to a friend for safe keep.
“I also received a threat message from one Prime Abubakar Amodu, who works as the Special Assistant on Media to member representing Ijumu state constituency, Hon. Victor Omofaiye and his brother, Amodu Adebowale. They both threatened me and warned me to always move around with security,” Omotugba told Kogireports.
The real reason behind the attack is still unknown.
As at press time, Dr Tolu Omotugba is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Lokoja. The commissioner of Agriculture, Honourable Kehinde Oloruntoba was said to have been among those who have visited Omotugba in the hospital.
