As the Kogi State Government geared towards conducting Local Government elections across the 21 Local Governments in Kogi State, news are beginning to filter in about the zoning pattern of the Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship positions.
One of such is the decision of the state’s All Progressive Congress (APC) party executives to zone the Okene Local Government Vice Chairmanship position to Obehira Uvete in Okene II.
The party has decided to consider a woman from Obehira Uvete to hold this position but the ugly revelations coming afterward calls for concern.
Mrs Dahiru Musili, popularly known as Hajiya Musili, the present APC Kogi Central Women Leader who hailed from Okene Eba in Okene I constituency, seem to be taking the people of Okene II constituency for fools with her sudden declaration of intention to vie for this position. Perhaps she felt there are no qualified women from Okene II constituency to contest for this position hence her reason to suddenly denounce her actual constituency which happens to be Okene Eba in Okene I constituency.
Two odds are currently working against this her ‘August ambition’, aside the fact that her husband, Hon. Dahiru Hacco is a serving member of Kogi State House of Assembly, representing Okene II constituency, Hajiya Musili is not from Okene II constituency. She have never voted there and have no traceable family background in Okene II constituency.
I am calling on well meaning Kogi Central leaders to help prevail on Hajiya Musili to shelve her divisive ambition that is capable of causing chaos in Okene Local Government.
I understand she is going about telling people that she has been anointed by the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello but I strongly believe the Governor won’t make such an expensive avoidable mistake as to giving what belongs to people of Okene II constituency to someone from Okene I Constituency. A person whose husband is presently a serving member in Kogi State House of Assembly. Such action will not only amount to shortchanging the people of Okene II constituency but over all Kogi central people as it amount to turning the interest of Kogi central people to a family affair.
Hajiya Musili can be compensated for her efforts as Kogi Central Woman leader without necessarily shortchanging the people of Okene II constituency.
Hajiya Musili should have a rethink about her greedy quest that tend to be mocking the overall intelligence and interest of people of Okene II constituency.
