Activities in local government across Kogi State have been grounded following the strike embarked upon by members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
All the 21 council secretariats across the state are now under lock and key, following the expiration of the ultimatum given to government to commence implementation of the relativity salary.
When contacted by pressmen, the president of NULGE in the state, Comrade Tom Abutu said the strike would continue until the councils begin implementation of the relativity like their counterparts at the state level.
He said the union held a meeting with the government last week, but that the government asked them to undergo a screening exercise before the relativity salary can be paid.
“All our members across the 21 local government areas will hold a meeting this week to decide the next line of action to take. But for now, we are on strike and all the 21 local government council secretariat are under lock and key,” he said.
