The President of the Idah Diocesan Catholic Women Organization (IDCWO), Mrs Alice Idachaba, and the Chaplain of the organisation, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Onofa, have paid a courtesy visit to the Abuja office of Chief Joseph Ameh Erico, ahead of the organisation’s 2026 award-giving ceremony and celebration of the Noble Woman of the Year.
The visit was also to formally invite Chief Erico to the ceremony scheduled for October 3, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Ankpa, Kogi State.
During the visit, the Catholic women presented Chief Erico with the formal invitation and informed him of the organisation’s decision to honour him for what they described as his contributions, leadership record and commitment to the development of society.
The annual event, according to the organisation, is designed to recognise women who have distinguished themselves through service, sacrifice and positive contributions to their communities. It also provides an opportunity to acknowledge exemplary men and leaders whose contributions have made an impact.
Mrs. Idachaba said the decision to honour Chief Erico followed consultations with people of goodwill and other responsible personalities who, she said, spoke positively about his antecedents and leadership qualities.
“We came to personally present this invitation because we consider the occasion important and we want you to be part of it. Your recognition is based on the legacies and contributions we have seen over time,” she said.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by the Bishop of Idah Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ademu Adaji, MSP, alongside priests, Catholic women and other invited guests.
Responding to the delegation, the Kogi East Senate hopeful expressed appreciation to the Idah Diocesan Catholic Women Organization for the honour and for taking the time to visit him personally in Abuja.
He described the recognition as humbling, saying that honours of such nature should not only be seen as celebrations but also as reminders of the responsibility to continue serving humanity.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled by this recognition. I sincerely appreciate the leadership and entire membership of the Idah Diocesan Catholic Women Organization for finding me worthy of this honour,” he said.
He commended the organisation for sustaining a tradition of recognising people who contribute positively to society, noting that such gestures could encourage more people to dedicate themselves to service.
