A new outpost of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has been commissioned in Iyamerin Okeri, Yagba West local government of Kogi State with a charge on officers of the command to justify and deliver in their duties without contravening the act that established NSCDC.
The Kogi State Commandant of NSCDC, Everestus Obiyo, while opening the new outpost in Iyamerin Okeri told the community that he will deploy special force to tackle the menace of Fulani herdsmen in their community.
Accompanied by the command entourage, the police, DSS, immigration, and vigilantes group of Nigeria, Everestus Obiyo in this important assignment to Iyamerin Okeri, Yagba West local of Kogi state was received by sons, daughters and paramount rulers of the community who, according to them, has been ravaged by the menace of fulani herdsmen.
Addressing members of this community, the NSCDC state commandant On behalf of the commandant general of NSCDC noted that the command is keen in securing lives and properties in Kogi state.
In his welcome address the Oba of Iyamerin Okeri, Oba Macaulay Adegboye pointed that the establishment of this institution would enhance the maintenance of law and order and equally curb the wave of crime in their society.
Also, the local government administrator for Yagba West, Mr Olutimi Joseph lauded the location of the facilities but maintained that his people has suffered greatly from the menace of fulani herdsmen, urging NSCDC in collaboration with sister agencies to wage into the mayhem.
Meanwhile, the acting divisional officer, Adeniyi Oluwole promised to justify the confidence impose in them by members of the community.
As a synergy to achieve the purpose of setting the outpost, goodwill message were delivered by the Nigeria police, DSS and the vigilante group.
Highlight of the event is the hosting of NSCDC flag in Iyamerin and the inspection of facilities by NSCDC state commandant.
