My full name is Peter Adinoyi Onuchi. And I need to speak honestly about that piece Comrade Danfulani Lukman Ohinoyi wrote praising Yahaya Bello and his supposed 2027 Senate coronation.

I read that article twice. The first time, I was angry. The second time, I just felt sad.

Because that article reads like someone sat down and decided to tell us a fairy tale while our reality is burning.

Let me explain why I say this.

The Part That Made Me Laugh Bitterly

The author said the people of Kogi Central are “rallying behind Yahaya Bello” for Senate. He talked about market squares, youth gatherings, women associations-everyone supposedly singing Bello’s praises.

Peter Adinoyi Onuchi lives here. I walk these streets. I sit in these gatherings.

And I am telling you: that is not the full truth.

Yes, some people support him. But many others are quietly shaking their heads. Many are angry. Many feel betrayed. And many are simply afraid to speak because they know what happens to those who criticize powerful men in this state.

The author forgot to mention that part. Funny how that works.

The Elephant in the Room That He Ignored

The article talked about Bello’s “achievements” and “development.” But not once-not a single time-did it mention that Yahaya Bello is currently standing trial for alleged corruption.

Let me be specific because I want you to understand the scale.

The EFCC is accusing Yahaya Bello of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving over N110 billion in one case, and another N80 billion in a separate case.

That is nearly N200 billion. Two hundred billion naira.

Do you know what N200 billion can do in Kogi Central? Build schools in every village. Equip hospitals. Give our young people something to do besides wait for death or look for dangerous opportunities.

Instead, that money—our money—was allegedly moved through shell companies and withdrawn from local government accounts in suspicious patterns. That is not my opinion. That is in court documents.

The author called criticism of Bello “propaganda” and “blackmail.” I call it the price of allegedly taking public funds.

The School Fees Story That Still Haunts Me

I want to tell you something that made me lose sleep.

It was revealed in court that Yahaya Bello allegedly paid $760,910 in advance school fees for his children at the American International School Abuja.

Let me break that down. Seven hundred and sixty thousand, nine hundred and ten dollars. In advance.

Meanwhile, public school teachers in Kogi were going months without salaries. Ordinary people could barely afford to feed their families.

And someone wants me to believe this man deserves to go to the Senate? To represent me? To speak for me?

I am sorry. I cannot do it. My conscience will not let me.

The Protest They Didn’t Report

The article made it seem like Kogi Central is united behind Bello. But in May 2026-just last month-hundreds of people from our own district traveled to the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

They carried placards. They chanted songs. They rejected Bello’s participation in the senatorial primaries.

Their message was clear: “We do not want a man with corruption cases representing us.”

Why did the article not mention that? Why pretend those people do not exist?

Because they don’t fit the beautiful story Comrade Danfulani wanted to sell. That is why.

Who Am I to Speak?

My name is Peter Adinoyi Onuchi. I am not a politician. I am not sponsored by any rival candidate. I have no personal beef with Yahaya Bello.

I am just a Nigerian who is tired.

Tired of being told to forget court documents because someone built a few roads.

Tired of being told that corruption allegations are “political attacks” when billions of naira cannot be accounted for.

Tired of watching the same people who loot our commonwealth recycle themselves into higher offices while our children remain hungry.

Let Me Be Clear

I am not saying Yahaya Bello has been convicted. That is for the court to decide. He has the right to defend himself. That is the law.

But I am saying this: you cannot write an article asking the people to “rally behind” a man facing corruption charges without mentioning those charges. That is not journalism. That is propaganda.

You cannot call people who question him “opposition elements” and dismiss their concerns as “blackmail.” That is not analysis. That is insulting our intelligence.

My Final Words

To Comrade Danfulani Lukman Ohinoyi: if you want to support Yahaya Bello, that is your right. But do not write as if you speak for all of us.

To the people of Kogi Central: let us demand better. Let us ask questions. Let us refuse to be dazzled by big names and big promises. Let us remember that a Senate seat is not a retirement package for men with legal troubles.

And to Yahaya Bello himself: if you truly love the people of Kogi Central, clear your name first. Face your trials. Let the courts speak. Then come and ask for our votes with clean hands.

Until that day, I am not rallying behind anyone.

I am rallying behind the truth.
