The Convener of Coalition of Civil Society Organizations and Executive Director, Africa Media Roundtable Initiative (AMRI), Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi has advocated for a military formation in Kabba, Kogi state and some other parts of the country as a means of apprehending and completely arresting the fleeing Boko Haram members who are causing security breaches across the middle-belt and southeast of Nigeria.
He made the call when he led a delegation of all the Civil Society Organizations to a visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai over the victory of the Nigerian Army against the Boko Haram insurgents.
The visit of the group was predicated on the recently held Civil Society Organizations Roundtable on Operation Lafiya Dole, the visit was particularly meant to present the communique of the roundtable to the Chief of Army Staff to support policy formulation of the military and also champion the course of a new post-insurgency narrative that will guarantee peace and prevent future reoccurrence of the insurgency.
During the visit, the organization presented an award of Millennium Hero to the Chief of Army Staff signaling the end of the war.
While presenting his speech, Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi commended the efforts, tenacity and courage demonstrated by the Army to win the war against the insurgents.
He further commended the military formations across the country for their efforts at arresting fleeing Boko Haram members particularly in Kogi state. He therefore asked for an immediate establishment of a military formation in Kabba to serve the people that lives in the West and Central area of Kogi state against the presence of fleeing Boko Haram members in the area and other security issues that may arise in the entire area.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of the Millennium Hero award to the Chief of Army Staff by the coalition.
While reacting to the visit, the elated Buratai appreciated the efforts of the coalition for their efforts and support to the Nigerian Army, he therefore promised to continue to do his best to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria and ensure that peace reign supreme in every part of the country.
He dedicated the award to all fallen heroes who laid their lives for peace to return to Nigeria
