A non-governmental organisation, Teen Educational Development and Information Network (TEDIN), has advised the Kogi State government to pay without further delay the salary arrears owing the public primary school teachers in the state.

The President of the group, Mr. Titus Alonge who gave this advice while speaking as a guest speaker at the 13th graduation and prize giving ceremony of CAC Nursery and Primary School Lokoja recently also urged the government to, as matter of urgency, look into all the disputes between it and the state’s branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) whose members have been on strike for many months.

He explained that education was only the key that could open doors of opportunities, charging the parents to strive hard to send their children to schools. While lamenting the untold hardship the members of the union have been subjected to under the excuse of screening them, Alonge however called on government to expedite action on the issue and come out with authentic list of teachers in the state.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Abraham Adavi stated that the state government was trying its best, adding that the primary schools have already received their April salary and the SUBEB is poised to pay that of the month of May.
