The Ijumu Local Government chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly disowned one Alabi Joshua, accusing him of misrepresenting himself to party members, leaders, and supporters as the party’s House of Assembly candidate for the Ijumu State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the chapter’s Assistant Party Secretary, Akinlabi Tope Adebayo, the party said it had become aware of Alabi Joshua’s activities and moved swiftly to correct what it described as a deliberate deception targeted at party faithful and the general public within Ijumu.

According to the statement, the only candidate recognized by the party is Hon. Gbenga Bright Olulade, who the chapter confirmed was the sole participant in the last House of Assembly Constituency 1 primary election. The party used the opportunity to clarify that Gbenga Bright remains its authentic and only candidate for the seat.

“Ijumu ADC did not know any Alabi Joshua,” the statement read, adding that party leaders have directed all members and residents to disregard him and not to recognize him as the party’s House of Assembly candidate under any circumstance.

The chapter further urged the people of Gbede and Ijumu to take note of the clarification, stressing that Hon. Gbenga Bright is the party’s only validly recognized candidate heading into the 2027 election.
