The Chief Executive Officer, Lona Group, Chief Idoko Kingsley Ilonah, has donated a solar-powered motorized borehole to the Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah.
The borehole project, executed by Lona Foundation, was a community development initiative identified during Chief Ilonah’s recent visit to the college.
Chief Ilonah, who was represented at the commissioning by Mr. Christian Ukwenya, applauded the Acting Provost of the college, Umar Anakaku Shuaibu, and his management team for their relentless efforts to make the institution and centre of excellence.

“This journey began on 26th September 2025 when Lona Foundation got the request for intervention in the college. About two months ago, Chief Idoko Kingsley Ilonah said he will come to the college personally to get first hand information. We were here and we were conducted round the college, identifying the pressing needs.
“Among the requests put forward, there was no mention of water supply. However, in the course of the tour, we noticed the non-functional boreholes. Chief Ilonah, there and then, decided that water will be the first area of intervention and that was what gave birth to this borehole project,” he said.

He made it clear that the intervention is not politically motivated but a community development initiative to support the government.
Lona Foundation said it has identified other areas of intervention in the college.
“We will renovate the college library. Also, we have identified two blocks of lecture rooms that are in bad shape for intervention in no distant time.”
Acting Provost of the college, Umar Anakaku Shuaibu, expressed gratitude to Lona Foundation and Chief Ilonah for the kind gesture.
He recalled that during the inauguration of the college’s council, he called for a deliberate move to woo public spirited persons from across the state to come partner with the state government in the development of the institution.
“The council and management unanimously agreed to the proposal and we went round to seek willing people and institutions that will come to our aid.
“Chief Idoko Kingsley Ilonah has come to partner with the state government and the college to ensure the development of this institution.
“Before now, we had three boreholes in the college but only one is functional. One was donated to the college by the federal government courtesy of the previous council chairman. Unfortunately, the borehole has not been functional. We wrote to the federal agency and they came twice but all to no avail. This one from Chief Ilonah has been tested and it is functioning well,” he said.
The Acting Provost called on other sons and daughters of the state to emulate Chief Ilonah by showing interest in the development of the college.
