Political Exclusion: We Must Not Allow Party Affiliations Blindfold Us, Alh Ojinya Tells Eziogu Clan

Fellow sons and daughters of Andayi Eziogu,

This is a humble appeal to us all to rise in unity and purpose at this critical time. As it stands today, our great clan does not hold any elected position in the present administration, and there are no clear signs that we will be considered in the ongoing arrangements for the next administration, both at the state and national levels.

This reality calls for deep reflection and collective action. We must not allow ourselves to be used to achieve the ambitions of others, only to be abandoned afterward. Neither should we turn against one another in the process.

The truth remains: power is not given, it is earned through strategic, lawful effort. Some may argue that clan identity should not matter in politics. But if that were truly the case, why have we been consistently overlooked? We are too significant, both in number and in contribution, to be sidelined while others secure both elected positions and appointments.

While appointments have their place, they lack the stability and influence that come with elected offices. Appointments can be withdrawn at any moment, but elected positions carry greater security and authority. It is therefore concerning that we have been reduced to seeking only appointments when we deserve far more representation.

This is not the time for division along sub-clan lines or for nurturing differences that weaken our collective progress. Instead, it is a moment to set aside all discord and stand united with a shared vision for growth, inclusion, and representation.

I have seen many of our youths aspiring to represent us in the State Assembly, and from my observation, they are all qualified. If those who once aspired to national positions were persuaded to step down in the interest of the broader political structure, then there is no justifiable reason why we should not now be supported to secure this opportunity.

We must not allow party affiliations to blindfold us. Our unity should be stronger than party lines. Whoever emerges as the candidate, regardless of party, should receive our collective support.

Let us come together with one voice, one purpose, and one resolve, to secure a better future for Andayi Eziogu and generations yet to come.

Alh. Salihu Ojinya
