An alliance of 15 youths and women organizations known as ‘The Mega Coalition of Kogi West for Good Governance’ has announced its endorsement of Dr Williams Toyin Akanle as their consensus candidate for the Kogi West senatorial seat come 2019.

Spokesman of the of the coalition, Alhaji Abdulmalik Musa Ibrahim, in a statement issued in Lokoja during the All Progressive Congress (APC) state Congress and made available to journalists, explained that the decision was reached after series of meetings by the participating associations in Lokoja and Kogi local government areas after rigorous scrutiny of the numerous aspirants for the plum job.

According to the statement: “Akanle is cerebral, humane, quintessential, non controversial, experienced and has the capacity to win elections in Kogi West. He has contacts at his finger tips to move Kogi West senatorial district forward.”

The statement further described Akanle as a national figure who has the capacity to reach any person in Nigeria irrespective of how highly placed he is.

“Toyin Akanle stands tall as an Iroko among all the aspirants vying for the Kogi west senatorial seat. If given the opportunity he will bring peace and stability to Kogi West and be a link to the Federal Government in attracting Federal presence to Kogi Western senatorial Zone and the state in particular,” he explained.

Abdulmalik added that their consideration was not base on selfish or sentiment but on an individual that has capacity to win the elections come 2019.

“We are not in enmity with any of the aspirants. Our consideration is the candidate who is calm, calculated and has capacity to withstand the storm in running election.”

The Coalition appealed to the delegates in the forthcoming congress to choose Dr. Williams Toyin Akanle as their senator.
