The Lokoja Local Government chapter of Labour Party visited ex-Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam to provide him a platform to contest the bye-election for the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency coming up soon.
Led by the Chairman, Com. Adam Shaba, the Party said, given his performance as a State Lawmaker and a former speaker who had to resign his position in the interest of the Labourers and commoners, they are convinced that the Labour Party is the best platform for him to actualize his aspiration for the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
They further promised to support him in all decisions he is going to make that will be in the larger interest of the people of Kogi State.
While thanking them for their show of love and support, the former speaker informed them that even though his Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently divided due to personal and non-partisan interests, he prayed that the situation is arrested sooner than later.
He added that service to the people does not really depend on which Party one belongs, hence, solicits for their support as he aspires to represent the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the forthcoming bye-election.
The Kogi LGA branch of the Labour Party had earlier paid similar consultative visit to the Lokoja I State Constituency Member having considered his leadership pedigree.
