The Kogi State Police Command has presented Group Life Assurance cheques totaling ₦18,186,438.25 to the families and dependants of deceased police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to the statement issued by ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, Police Public Relations Officer, the cheque presentation ceremony, which took place at the Kogi State Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja, forms part of the ongoing welfare schemes of the Nigeria Police Force designed to alleviate financial burdens on the families of fallen officers.
Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, extended the deep condolences of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the bereaved families.
CP Kankarofi commended the ultimate sacrifices made by the brave officers in protecting lives and property across the country, acknowledging the profound loss felt by their families and the force.
While emphasizing that no amount of monetary compensation could replace human life, the Commissioner noted that the financial benefits are meant to cushion the effect of their loss and support the immediate and long-term needs of their dependants.
He urged the beneficiaries to exercise prudence in managing the funds, advising them to prioritize the welfare, upkeep, and education of the children left behind.
Reiterating the Command’s commitment, CP Kankarofi assured that the police authority will continue to prioritize the welfare of serving officers as well as the families of fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.
