Kogi Speaker Commends Bunu People

Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole has commended the people of Bunu land over the successful celebration of Bunu week which came to the climax on Saturday, 3rd August at Okebukun-Bunu.

The Speaker joined the Olubunu of Bunu land, His Royal Majesty Adebayo Ikusemoro, the National President of Bunu Development Association, BDA, Pastor J. E Jemibawondo and other dignitaries from all walks of life to celebrate the bravery, hardworking and integrity nature of typical Bunu folks.

Kolawole used the occasion to eulogize the people of Bunu for their unalloyed support before, during and after the just concluded 2019 General Elections that gave him another opportunity to represent the constituency till 2023 at the Kogi State House of Assembly.

He said he is a true son of Bunu land because his mother hailed from Aiyetoro Kiri, stressing that he would continue to work with other stakeholders to move the area forward.

He said as part of his contributions toward the development of the constituency, he donated over three million naira for the completion of Ayede – Olle – Igbo electrification project abandoned by the contractor and also currently building two cottage hospitals in Aiyede – Bunu and Gbeleko in Kabba district, noting that the projects will be completed soon.

As their representative, he urged them to continue to support the current administration in its efforts to reposition the state for the prosperity of all.

Kolawole said such programs should be encouraged as that will create more opportunity for integration and interaction among various communities in the area.

He commended the dexterity with which Professor Alemika of University of Jos who is also one of the sons of the soil presented his keynote address by giving insight into the rich history of Bunu land.

The Speaker in his usual magnanimity to continue to identify with the people gave a token donation of one million naira to support the development of the area.

Dignitaries at the occasion includes, the representative of Governor Yahaya Bello, Hon Abdulmumeen Okara, Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs,  SSG, Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, National President, Okun Development Association, Barrister Femi Mokikan,  President General of Kabba Development Union KDU, Kogi State ALGON Chairman, Hon Isah Taofiq, Hon Jethro Funsho Oni, some of their sons includes, Hon Moses Olorunleke, Comdr Jerry Omodara, Hon Kehinde Oloruntoba, Hon Durosimi Meseko, Hon Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo and Dr Olorunfemi.
