The Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in Kogi state, Mrs Ina Maryam Ciroma has said that the agency was battle ready in mitigating the effect of this year’s flood should it occur.
Ciroma,who disclosed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja last week.
She noted that the agency was ready to assist in the area of timely rescue,saying that the agency has gotten all its boats ready.
Ciroma, assured of adequate and efficient response that would help mitigate this year’s expected flood.
She said that her agency would deploy its expertise and personnel in search and rescue operations during the flood.
Ciroma, called for synergy with the State Government to prevent a re currence of last year’s devastating experience.
