The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, has said that workplace security and job protection remain central to sustaining workers’ welfare and to securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Comrade Edoka spoke on Friday during the Kogi State Government’s Workplace Security Campaign, which took the government’s message to workers in Dekina and Omala Local Government Areas.
Addressing workers in both councils, the Labour Adviser stressed that the importance of security in today’s society “cannot be overemphasized,” and urged workers to remain vigilant both at their workplaces and within their communities.

Government Achievements Tied to Re-election Push
Enumerating the achievements of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo administration, Comrade Edoka argued that sustaining those gains would require workers to rally behind both Governor Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in their respective re-election bids, describing continuity in leadership as a guarantee of job security and sustainable development for workers.
“The purpose of this campaign is to sensitize you on safety, secure your jobs, and consolidate the gains we have made,” Comrade Edoka told workers in both LGAs. “With Governor Ododo and President Tinubu, workers’ welfare is assured.”
Dekina: “A Right Step Towards Grassroots Mobilization”
Receiving the campaign team at the Dekina Local Government Secretariat, the Council Chairman, Hon. John Urah Ikani, described the Workplace Security Campaign as a right step toward adequate grassroots mobilization ahead of the coming elections.
Hon. Ikani said the initiative had made political campaigning easier at the grassroots level and commended Governor Ododo for approving a programme he described as results-oriented.
The chairman went further to praise Comrade Edoka personally, calling him “a successful fighter” and congratulating the APC for having him as a frontline member of the party.
He assured the visiting team that workers in Dekina LGA are strongly behind the government, pointing to the cordial relationship between workers, their union leaders, and the local administration as evidence of the good leadership provided by Governor Ododo.
Omala: Security Gains and the Bagana FOB
In Omala, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Edibo Ameh Mark, also described the campaign as strategic for grassroots mobilization, emphasizing that effective partnership with labour is essential both to drive government policies and programmes and to secure total victory in the coming elections.
Hon. Edibo said Governor Ododo has made campaigning easier by delivering responsive governance, singling out the administration’s efforts to improve security in the area — particularly the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Bagana — for special commendation.
Labour Leaders Pledge Support
Labour leaders across both Dekina and Omala assured the campaign team that their members are strongly in support of the re-election of Governor Ododo and President Tinubu, citing the administrations’ attention to workers’ welfare as the basis for that support.
In his remarks, the Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, expressed appreciation to workers in the two councils for the warm reception accorded the campaign team.
The visits to both council areas were marked by cultural performances from various troupes, who entertained the delegation as part of the day’s proceedings.
Campaign to Cover All 21 LGAs
According to organizers, the Workplace Security and Workers’ Welfare Campaign is not limited to Dekina and Omala. The initiative is expected to continue across all 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State in the coming weeks, as the state government intensifies grassroots engagement with the labour movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
